Jax and Luna were orphans who had grown up on the streets, surviving by their wits and agility. They dreamed of one day becoming rich and escaping the gritty reality of Night City. Their goal was to save up enough money to buy a ticket to the off-world colonies, where they could start a new life.

One night, Jax and Luna were approached by a fixer named Rico, who had a job for them. A local gang had a shipment of SynthCoke that needed to be stolen, and Rico was willing to pay top dollar for it. Jax and Luna agreed to the job, knowing that it was risky, but it would pay well.

The two street kids put together a plan and executed it flawlessly, stealing the SynthCokes and delivering them to Rico. The fixer was impressed with their skills and offered them more jobs, each one more dangerous than the last.

However, their luck ran out when they were hired to steal a prototype CORTEX IMPLANT from a heavily guarded corporate building. The job went wrong, and they were caught by security forces.
